Course Details

Course Code: BUSN490 Course ID: 2996 Credit Hours: 3 Level: Undergraduate

An opportunity for business administration students to pursue an independent research project or examine a specific area of Business Administration under the mentorship of a single professor. This course serves as a comprehensive synthesis of the undergraduate experience, requiring students to identify and analyze a specific organizational topic or problem. Students will demonstrate mastery of the program’s core objectives by integrating concepts from at least five prior business courses into a final Applied Capstone Portfolio. Students will produce a professional suite of deliverables, including a strategic executive summary, a data-driven business analysis (12–15 pages), and a 10–12 minute recorded professional presentation (10 slides/10 minutes). These artifacts must collectively demonstrate the application of accounting, economic factors, legal environments, and marketing strategy to a real-world organizational challenge. Students will submit a project proposal, an annotated bibliography of academic and industry sources, and the final portfolio by Week 8; there will be no examination. The course is open to upper-division students only, and participation is at the discretion of the faculty member. To be eligible, students must be enrolled in a bachelor's degree program, have completed 24 credit hours, and secured faculty approval for their organizational topic prior to registration. Once these conditions are met, the student should contact their academic advisor to complete the official online registration.
